The International Partners for the event, which will take place on August 12-17, are SPAR, Omega, Le Gruyère AOC and Eurovision, as well as the Swiss global finance company UBS.

Meanwhile, an extensive survey conducted in September showed that 96 per cent of residents of the German-speaking part of Switzerland either approved of, or chose a neutral position, with regard to the championships.

The unaided awareness of Zürich 2014 was 29 per cent, while 45 per cent of respondents said they would like to attend the Championships.

A further 19 per cent said they would definitely try to attend, with 26 per cent answering that they would probably try to attend.
