AtosNovember 19 - Worldwide Olympic Partner Atos have secured a contract with Nanjing 2014 to design, build and operate the IT infrastructure and systems for the Youth Olympic Games in the Chinese city.

IT giant Atos have been the Worldwide Information Technology Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 2001 and they have been involved in every Winter and Summer Games since, including the recently completed London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics.

The deal with the Nanjing 2014 Organising Committee marks the second time Atos have secured a Youth Olympic Games contract after they worked on the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics in Singapore in 2010.

"With the know-how extracted from all the previous Games, we feel confident that Atos can deliver a stable, accurate, timely and on-budget Youth Olympic Games in 2014," said the chief executive of Atos in Asia Pacific Herbie Leung.

"Atos is also committed in working together with Nanjing 2014 Organising Committee and all walks of life in Nanjing to contribute in the Government's vision to transform Nanjing into a world famous software city and served its part to create a brighter future for Nanjing."

As part of the contract, Atos will support Nanjing 2014 over the next two years by providing effective project management focusing on risk management, optimised technical solutions and flexible resource management to the Games.

"The Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games is an international event for young athletes aged 15 to 18 years old," said the secretary of CPC (Communist Party of China) Nanjing Municipal Committee Yang Weize.

"To deliver an impressive Youth Olympic Games to this generation, internet applications and information services are key.

"Atos has accumulated lots of successful experiences from the previous events and we expect Atos to cooperate with the Nanjing 2014 Organising Committee to adapt this new trend to the Games and enhance its technology and services to provide a successful competition in 2014 and to contribute to our vision to build a smart city of Nanjing."

In addition to the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, Atos will be working on the 2013 Asian Youth Games in Nanjing in a more that will help further enhance their presence in the city.
