jonnie peacock 051212December 6 - Officials from the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), National Paralympic Committees and International Organisations of Sports for the Disabled (IOSDs) have gathered in Frankfurt to discuss future developments in athletics at the two-day IPC Athletics Sport Forum, which got underway today.

Technical and classification rule updates, sport strategy, competition schedules and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games event programme are all on the agenda, along with presentations on the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon and the 2013 IPC Marathon World Cup in London.

Delegates will also be asked to give feedback on the London 2012 Paralympics, which saw 1,134 athletes take part in track and field events setting 102 world and 139 Paralympic records.

Every one of this summer's Paralympic athletics events was played out in front of a capacity crowd of 80,000 at the Olympic Stadium, with a further one million people tuning in on television to watch China dominate the field to take home 86 medals - including 33 golds - in the 170 medal events.

"IPC Athletics has experienced tremendous progress in the last year alone, and with that growth comes the necessity to evaluate its current position by involving our community to allow us to further develop and promote the Paralympic Games and Movement," Ryan Montgomery, IPC Athletics manager, said.
