Copenhagen will welcome delegates to the second WCF Annual Congress between the August 26 and September 2, 2013.

It comes after the Danish capital hosted the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in October 2009 where Rio de Janeiro were awarded the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Meanwhile, Reno Tahoe in Nevada will host the third WCF Annual Congress between the August 25 and September 1, 2014, shortly after the conclusion of the Sochi 2014 Olympics and Paralympics.

The events come after the inaugural WCF Annual Congress which was held in Turnberry, Scotland in October this year.


WCF President Kate Caithness congratulated both host cities after having received a number of bids for both gatherings.

"The World Curling Federation is looking forward to going to Copenhagen and Reno Tahoe for our next two Annual Congresses," said Caithness.

"Both the Danish Curling Association and United States Curling Association submitted excellent bids and have forged strong local partnerships to ensure the success of these events.

"Both Copenhagen and Reno Tahoe offer exceptional environments for our delegates to meet and discuss the key issues shaping the WCF and the sport of curling today."

Sport Event Denmark was instrumental in the Copenhagen bid and will continue to be a major partner in the planning process for the 2013 Congress.

"We are delighted, together with the Danish Curling Association and our city partners, to host the WCF Annual Congress in 2013 in our capital Copenhagen," said Sport Event Denmark chief executive Lars Lundov.

"In 2011, the Danish city of Esbjerg had the honour of hosting the World Women's Curling Championship.

"Now, we have been given the responsibility of hosting the WCF Annual Congress in 2013 we aim to make it a great success."

Chairman of the Reno Tahoe Winter Games chairman Brian Krolicki was equally delighted that the American city was confirmed as host of the 2014 WCF Annual Congress.

"We are honoured to have the World Curling Federation select Reno Tahoe as the first North American region to host its Annual Congress," said Krolicki, who is also the Nevada Lieutenant Governor.

"Coupled with Las Vegas hosting the WFG Continental Cup of Curling, Nevada plans to shine a bright spotlight on the sport of curling in the Olympic year - 2014."

The inaugural WCF Annual Congress in Turnberry this year saw over 100 delegates from around the world attend where they represented the majority of the WCF's 50 Member Associations.

The WCF Annual Congress also incorporates the Annual General Assembly.
