The company, which has previously hosted concerts for artists including Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna, will stage a series of gigs at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in 2013.

insidethegames had reported earlier this month that Live Nation, who worked with London 2012 Tier One sponsor BT to stage concerts in Hyde Park and Victoria Park during the Olympics, would be responsible for arranging the events in the Olympic Stadium.

"We are delighted to be staging music concerts at the London Olympics venue, which last year became a globally-recognised site for outstanding performances - both in sport and music," said John Reid, president of concerts at Live Nation Europe.

The first events confirmed for the venue are Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling in July -both of which were previously held in Hyde Park.

The move brings an end to the concert promoter's 10-year long relationship with The Royal Parks.

Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling will be held in the North Park area of the Olympic Park in July.


"The confidence now shown by one of the world's leading live entertainment promoters to relocate two of its biggest music festivals from the centre of the capital is a ringing endorsement of our legacy plans," said Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London and chairman of the London Legacy Development Corporation.

"Along with the other major international sports events we have already secured this latest news proves that the Park has a very bright future indeed."

Live Nation said it plans to announce "some major concerts with world-renowned artists" over the coming weeks.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with them this summer.

"This deal marks an important stepping stone towards securing a long-term programme of fantastic events that will make Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park a leading destination for Londoners and those who come from further afield."
