Mediterranean Weightlifting ConfederationFebruary 5 - Italy's Maurizio Lo Buono (pictured centre) has been re-elected to a second four-year term as President of the Mediterranean Weightlifting Confederation after standing unopposed for the position.


The 49-year-old former weightlifter from Bari was first elected as Mediterranean Weightlifting Confederation President in 2009.

He had previously served as Mediterranean Weightlifting Confederation general secretary from 2005 to 2008.

Buono's re-election came at the Mediterranean Weightlifting Confederation Electoral Congress in the Italian city of Brindisi where 12 Mediterranean countries were represented.

"This is a real honour to be serving another four-year term as President," said Buono following his re-election.

"I pledge to build on my work in my first four-year term, and to continue help our sport grow."

The Congress also saw re-elections for Mohamed Nadir Feki as first vice-present, Moukalled Hassenen and vice-president and Kamla Maghoub as general secretary.

In addition, the Congress saw Elez Gjoza, Michel Soto, Mustafa Saad Zintani, Jesmond Caruana, and Maria Dolores Rubio Lleonart elected as Executive Board members.
