60604 636830183009444 118511204 nApril 6 - The team draws have been made for football, volleyball, basketball, water polo, rugby sevens, and field hockey at next summer's Universiade in Kazan, and the Phillippines men's basketball team have cursed their luck as they were handed the unenviable task of facing reigning champions Serbia.


Russia were seeded first in Group A for all events due to their status as hosts.

The men's basketball teams have been drawn into four pools, with Russia drawn against Germany, Ukraine, South Korea, Estonia and Oman in Pool A, Pool C see's North American rivals Canada and the United States drawn together, alongside the Czech Republic, Australia and the United Arab Emirates, and Pool D has drawn together Lithuania, Finland, Brazil, China, Chile and Norway.

Pool B has been dubbed as the "Group of Death" by head coach of the Filipino representatives, the University of the Visayas Green Lancers, head coach Felix Belano Jr, who is under no illusions as to the tough task that faces his team in Kazan this summer.

The group features the Phillippines, alongside reigning champions Serbia, Romania, Japan, Mexico and Mongolia.

In the women's basketball, Russia, Sweden, Poland and Mongolia are in Pool A, reigning champions the US will begin their defence against Brazil, Czech Republic, and Belgium in Pool B, 2011 silver medallists Chinese Taipei face Canada, Japan and Hungary in Pool C and Australia, Finland, China and Ukraine have been drawn in Pool D.

In the men's football, Russia will face China, Mexico and Ireland in Pool A, holders Japan have been drawn in Pool B alonside Uruguay, Ukraine and Turkey, beaten 2011 finalists Great Britain will play Italy, Malaysia and Algeria, and Pool D will see bronze medallists from two years ago Brazil take on Canada, France and Peru.

In the women's football, Russia, South Korea, Chinese Taipei and South Africa are in Pool A, China will begin the defence of their crown against Canada, Mexico and Ireland in Pool B, and Japan, Brazil, Great  Britain and Estonia will play in Pool C.
