Niels Nygaard head of Denmark NOCMay 4 - Niels Nygaard has been elected for another two-year term as President of the National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation of Denmark (DIF). 


The 60-year-old, former President of the Danish Athletics Federation, was first elected in 2007 and this will be his fourth term in charge.

He was the only candidate.

Nygaard oversaw Denmark's most successful Olympic performance for 64 years at London 2012, where the team won a total of nine medals.

They included two gold medals, thanks to rowers Rasmus Quist and  Mads Rasmussen in the men's lightweight double sculls and cyclist Lasse Norman Hansen in the omnium.

The 61-year-old Karl Christian Koch, a former swimmer who represented Denmark in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, was re-elected as secretary general. 

The most significant change was that Flemming Knudsen, chairman of the Danish Gymnastics Federation, was elected unopposed to the Board to replace Susan Roulund, who had chosen not to seek re-election.
