The former England international earned 15 caps for his country in the 1990's before being appointed as assistant national coach in 1999 and then as national doubles coach from 2000 to 2005.

Following a five-year spell as national head coach of the French Badminton Federation (FFBaD), Quinn left for his current role at BADMINTONscotland in July 2010.

Quinn will report to England and Great Britain performance director Jens Grill, who expressed his confidence in his new appointment's abilities.

"We are looking forward to having John return to the England set-up," Grill said.

"This is a key appointment for our performance system and I know we will all get behind him and welcome him back to Badminton England.

"John will rejoin us at an important time when we are planning for a major development of the England Talent Pathway with an objective to build a stronger and more flexible performance system.

"I believe that John has the vision and the experience required to lead us through this process."

Quinn will take up his role with Badminton England on August 1.
