Welshman Davies took silver in the class 1 men's singles but he claimed he was upset to miss out on gold after not dropping a set throughout the whole tournament before his 3-2 defeat to world number two Chang Ho Lee of South Korea in the final.

"I'm disappointed to lose in the final but pleased with the results," said Davies following the defeat.

"I wanted to test myself against the Korean and I had a good start but then I let it slip.

My tactical match play wasn't as good as it should have been and if I can play tactically better next time against him then it could be a different result."

The 21-year-old Aaron McKibbin won gold in the team event at the Slovenian Open, but he felt that his performances to win bronze in the men's class 8 singles in Germany were the best he has produced this season.

He defeated world number 10 Mathieu Loicq by three unanswered games in the group stages, but lost out to Swedish world number two Emil Andersson in the final.

"I think it is the best I've played all season, so I'm happy with my performance." said McKibbin.

"I usually have very close matches against Loicq but I think I played tactically well against him today and felt in control of the match.

"I played better against Andersson than in previous matches but he played very well so I have to take a lot of positives out of the last two days."

There was also a bronze medal for Jane Campbell, who sailed through her group and defeated Italy's Federica Cudia 3-0 in the quarter-finals, but the task of facing world number one and Paralympic champion Anna-Carin Ahlquist proved too much for her, as she went down 3-1 in the semi-final.

David Wetherill made his first international appearance in the men's class 6 since London 2012, and looked to be a shoe-in for the medals after winning all three of his group games, but he was on the receiving end of a tight defeat by Valentin Kneuss of Switzerland in the last 16.

Sara Head was the only player to not make the cut from the group stages, as she went out on countback.

All five players are set to compete in the team event on Saturday (June 1) in Germany.
