Gabby Logan in front of Olympic StadiumJune 11 - BBC Sport have announced the launch of a new magazine-style television show that will air as part of a a broadcast campaign to encourage more sporting participation across the country.


"Inspire: The Olympic Journey" will celebrate the biggest names, rising stars and unsung heroes of Olympic sport and will encourage viewers to get involved at a grass-root level.

It will be broadcast on Saturday afternoons and will launch on July 27 to mark the first anniversary of the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. 

The show will be hosted by Gabby Logan (pictured top) take an in-depth look at the stories behind sports and athletes, tackling big issues and discovering who inspires the sports men and women of today.

Alongside the new BBC One series, BBC sport has also announced the launch of the Get Inspires initiative, which aims to encourage participation in sport and is working with sports bodies across the UK using multiple broadcast platforms.

The first episode will be broadcast from Glasgow and will feature six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy joining Logan on a tour of the Velodrome named in his honour and to discuss his illustrious career.

Four-time rowing Olympic gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent will also explore the true meaning of the Olympic legacy.

"The Get Inspired initiative will take advantage of the BBC's role as the nation's leading sports broadcaster, encouraging sports participation across the UK and providing viewers with tools to help get involved," said Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport.
