chelseaJune 21 - UEFA Europa League winners Chelsea have secured the biggest partnership deal in their history with Adidas, which will see the sports brand continue to be the official sponsor and sportswear supplier for the club over the next ten years.

Adidas, a Tier One sponsor of last year's Olympics and Paralympics in London 2012, have been partners of the three-time Premier League champions since 2006 when they took over from the London club's long-standing deal with Umbro, who are now owned by major competitors Nike.

The new deal is reportedly worth around £290 million ($450 million/€340 million).

This year, Adidas worked with the club to launch the "It's blue, what else matters" campaign, which has been hailed as the most successful club home kit launch of all-time.

The campaign featured star players such as Spanish striker Fernando Torres and in-demand Brazilian defender David Luiz, dipped from head-to-toe in blue paint, which caught the eyes of supporters and the media.

Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay said: "We are delighted to extend our partnership until 2023 after a highly successful first seven seasons.

"Both organisations share the same ethos and ambition and the new deal reaffirms adidas' belief in the club's status in world football."

Herbert Hainer, chief executive of Adidas AG, added: "Both Adidas and Chelsea FC have a long and proud heritage in football and we are delighted to continue our working relationship with one of Europe's elite football clubs.

"We look forward to many more years of success, working closely with the club on product, marketing and grassroots initiatives in the UK and around the globe."

After becoming the first London club to win the UEFA Champions League in 2012 by beating this year's champions Bayern Munich at their home ground, the Blues continued their rich vein of European form by winning the UEFA Europa League after defeating Portuguese club Benfica last month thanks to a last minute header from defender Branislav Ivanovic.

Adidas' partnership with Chelsea is undoubtedly their biggest football deal in the UK, though they do have kit manufacturing deals with other Premier League clubs such as Sunderland, Stoke and Southampton, as well as the Scottish national team.
