Wilfried Lemke poses with members of Irans National Paralympic CommitteeJuly 17 - United Nations special advisor Wilfried Lemke has met with the President of the Iranian Paralympic Committee, Mahmoud Khosravivafa, to discuss the nation's Paralympic sport development plans.

Visiting Tehran, Lemke received information on the development of Parasport in Iran, including updates from the London 2012 Games where the nation finished 11th on the overall medals table with 24 medals, 10 of them golds.

Khosravivafa also gave a briefing on plans for their national Paralympic day, which Lemke has been invited to attend this autumn, and declared the country's desire to work with the UN on sports projects in the African and Middle East regions.

Lemke praised the Paralympic Committee and in turn said the UN is keen to cooperate with the Iranian organisation "in all areas".

"As a UN delegate, I would like to support you for the sake of your great efforts," Lemke said.

"Let's come to use sport for development and peace."
