Organised by the British Mountaineering Council (BMC), the event will mark the first time an international paraclimbing event has been held in the United Kingdom, as athletes compete across seven categories.

"We're delighted to be holding the Paraclimbing Cup and looking forward to welcoming around 40 climbers from around the world," BMC competitions officer Rob Adie said.

"We hope the event will help showcase our British talent and show how accessible climbing is to people of all abilities."

The British delegation features world champion Fran Brown and European silver medallists Sianagh Gallagher and Reanne Racktoo, along with Duncan Booth, John Churcher, Laurence Dare, Pete Roberts and Rad Breeze.

"It's really exciting to see the pace at which Paraclimbing is developing," team manager Graeme Hill said.

"Team GB is on great form, with two podium places in the Euros this summer.

"We're hoping for some more great results on home soil."

IFSC Paraclimbing Commission and assistant manager for the British team Andy Coltart added: "The IFSC is looking forward to the Paraclimbing Cup in London.

"After the success of the Paralympics last year it is great to see another gathering of the world's top para athletes for this competition in London.

"We wish every success to those competing."

The qualification rounds for the IFSC Paraclimbing Cup will take place on Saturday (September 21), while the finals are scheduled for Sunday (September 22).
