Mallory Weggemann has agreed a personal sponsorship deal with FinisNovember 1 - Finis, a world leader in technical swimming products, has announced a personal sponsorship deal with American Paralympic champion Mallory Weggemann.

The 24-year-old, who took gold at the women's S8 50 metre freestyle event at London 2012, will represent the North Carolina-based company as she prepares to compete at Rio 2016.

Weggemann joins a growing Finis team after American double Olympic gold medallist Anthony Ervin agreed a sponsorship deal in May.

"We are extremely lucky to have such an incredible swimmer join our team," said Finis President John Mix.

"It would be enough if all she did were win gold medals and set world records, but this young woman is so remarkable on her own.

"Her drive, her will to succeed, to overcome adversity; we can all learn a lot from Mallory Weggemann."

Weggemann has been a remarkable talent in the pool, winning eight gold medals and breaking nine world records at the 2010 International Paralympic Committee's World Championships in Eindhoven before claiming the 2011 ESPN ESPY Award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability for these efforts.

Days before the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Weggemann was controversially reclassified from the S7 classification, in which she had raced in all her career, to S8, a class for swimmers with less impairment.

Despite this change, she won the 50m freestyle event in a record breaking time.

"I am so incredibly honoured to become a member of the Finis team as I head into the 2016 Paralympic Games," said Weggemann, who also won bronze in the women's 34 point 4x100m medley relay at last year's Games.

"London was an absolute dream come true for me but I know my career doesn't end there.

"I have so much more left to do in the sport of swimming and I am so incredibly excited for the journey ahead and I am proud to be partnered with Finis for this next phase in my athletic career."
