There will be record coverage of the Trentino 2013 Winter Universiade ©FISUDecember 9 - A record number of hours of action from a Winter Universiade will be broadcast when Trentino 2013 officially gets underway on Wednesday (December 11) with the International University Sports Federation (FISU) claiming 170 hours will be transmitted worldwide.

The announcement comes just two days out from the Opening Ceremony of the 26th winter edition of the biggest sporting event for students in the world and the governing body says that it has agreements in place with a range of television companies worldwide, including Eurosport and Eurosport Asia-Pacific, CBS USA, RTR Russia, CCTV China, KBS Korea, KZTV Kazakhstan, Czech TV and RAI Sport Italy.

FISU will operate as the host broadcaster over the 11 days of competition and says it will be responsible for live production of 78 events as well as for all finals taking place, with the exception of women's ice hockey, downhill and super-G competitions.

There will be eight outside broadcast vans and four electronic news gathering crews operating across the 13 venues which will also produce 21 daily highlights packages - each 26 minutes long -along with three to four news items per day.

The latest broadcast arrangement comes on the back of the announcement by FISU that it will be rolling out its online streaming service for Trentino 2013 following on from the success of the service at the Summer Universiade in Kazan earlier this year.

A number of events from Trentino will be available to view online by clicking here.

This will be sixth time that the Winter Universiade will have taken place in Italy, with Turin in 2007 the previous Italian host.

Around 2,800 athletes from 52 countries are expected in Trentino to compete in in ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, short track, curling, alpine skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping; cross country skiing, free style skiing, snowboarding and biathlon.

Competition is due to run untill December 21.
