The tournament, due to take place at Soho Square in the coastal city from December 11 until 15, will be the fourth edition of a unique mixed event in which each team consists of two men and one woman. 

The inaugural event, held in Petaling Jaya in Malaysia in 1996, saw Australia defeat England in the final, before England hit back by beating Scotland in s'Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands in 1999.

The event was then put on hold for 12 years until Egypt signified their rise as a squash power when they beat the English in the final to win in Chennai, India in 2011. 

The next event this December will take place in the same Sharm El Sheikh venue in which the Women's World Championship took place in September 2010.

With a squad likely to consist of the former world number one Ramy Ashour and the third ranked players in both the male and female rankings, Mohamed Elshorbagy and Nour El Sherbini respectively, the Egyptians will be hard to beat.

Competition is likely to come from an English side consisting of world champion Laura Massaro and men's world number two Nick Matthew, as well as the likes of France, Malaysia and Australia.  

The competition sits alongside the men and women's World Team Championships events, and will be the final tournament in a hectic Autumn campaign for the world's top players.

This will also consist of the Asian Games in Incheon from September 19 until October 4, the men's World Championships in Doha from November 14 until 21 and the Women's Team World Championships in Niagara on the Lake, Canada, from December 1 until 6.

"The WSF World Cup features a mixed team format that allows us to showcase the best male and female players competing together for their country," said WSF President Narayana Ramachandran.

"For us to be able to do so this year in Egypt, a squash powerhouse, is especially pleasing."
