World number one Kunieda secured his seventh Japan Open title with a dominant performance over French world number two Stéphane Houdet in Iizuka, winning in straight sets 6-0 6-3.

Houdet is left still searching for his first title in Japan, having now played Kunieda in four finals in Iizuka since 2007.

The win was also a first for Kunieda since 2011 having missed out on the tournament last year and losing in the semi-final to Houdet in 2012.

The title was a second in as many days for Kunieda after winning the men's doubles title alongside South Africa's Evans Maripa in yesterday's final.

The duo crowned their first tournament as partners with victory over the Japanese pair of Satoshi Saida and Takashi Sanada 6-3 6-3.

Kamiji took her career tally of Super Series crowns to four today with another confident performance against Dutch world number four and two-time Japan Open champion Jiske Griffioen, with Kamiji eventually retaining her title 6-2 6-4.

The 20-year-old won the first Super Series title of her career in Iizuka in 2013 before adding two more Super Series titles before the end of last season.

Kamiji was not, however, able to produce the double title winning performance of her male compatriot following defeat at the hands of Dutch two-time Japan Open runners-up Griffioen and Aniek van Koot when she partnered with Marjolein Buis in yesterday's women's double final.

Yesterday's action also saw South Africa's Lucas Sithole end the United States' David Wagner's sequence of seven successive Japan Open titles with victory in the quad singles final.

The South African had to fight from behind to beat the world number one 1-6 6-4 6-4 and seal his third career Super Series title.

Wagner ensured he didn't travel home to the United States empty handed as he secured the quad doubles title alongside partner Greg Hasterok.
