African Origin Travel and Sports Tourism have been appointed Official Ticket Reseller for Glasgow 2014 by the Ghana Olympic Committee ©African OriginAfrican Origin Travel and Sports Tourism will take sole responsibility for reselling tickets in Ghana for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.


In recent years the Accra-based company have become the key player in the sports tourism landscape in the west African country, and took charge of the ticketing process for events, including the London 2012 Olympics and the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

For this success they were named Best Sports Tourism Company at the Ghanaian Tourism Awards in Accra last September.

Following a thorough screening process, where bids were also considered from several other travel and tour agencies, the company were appointed Authorised Ticket Reseller by the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

This will involve redistributing tickets allocated to the GOC, while they will also take charge of organising hospitality services for the Games.

"The Ghana Olympic Committee announces that African Origin Travel and Sports Tourism has been officially appointed as the Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR) for the 2014 Commonwealth Games," said GOC secretary general Richard Akpokavie.

"As the ATR for the Games, African Origin becomes the sole authorised organisation responsible for the sale of event tickets for the Commonwealth Games."

Ghana have competed at 14 Commonwealth Games, beginning with Vancouver 1954, and in that time have won a total of 55 medals, including 15 gold.

The nation sent a squad of 64 athletes to the last Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, where they won a total of four medals.

This consisted of a silver for women's 4 x 100 metres relay quartet as well as a long jump bronze Ignisious Gaisah and a T54 1500m third-place finish for female wheelchair racer Anita Fordjour.

The final medal came in boxing where Awusone Yekeni took a heavyweight bronze.
