The Championships, the pinnacle of the men's squash calendar, will welcome 112 of the world's best players as they battle for a prize fund worth $350,000 (£206,220/€257,865) and the right to be named world champions.

A major suburb of Seattle, Bellevue will become the first American destination ever to host the sport's most prestigious competition as players converge on the Bellevue Pro Sports Club.

Exact dates for the week-long tournament are set to be announced later in the year.

"We are delighted to confirm that the 2015 PSA World Squash Championships will take place in Bellevue and to welcome the city on-board as the latest world class destination to become associated with professional squash," said PSA chief executive Alex Gough.

"The World Championships is the most prestigious title in squash and to be taking the sport's pinnacle event to an American audience for the first time in history is tremendously exciting for everyone involved.

"We are looking forward to working closely with all our partners in Bellevue over the coming year in preparation for what I am sure will be an exciting and demanding competition which will see the world's best players on display."

Bellevue will become the 24th city to host the tournament, only the third in North America after Toronto, Canada and Hamilton, Bermuda, in what will be the 37th staging of the week-long event.

"We are very excited to be bringing the World Championships to the USA for the very first time and feel certain that Bellevue, Washington will prove to be a fitting venue for such a prestigious competition," said Shabana Khan, founder and chief executive of YSKevents, organisers of the 2015 World Squash Championships.

"We already enjoy a strong working relationship with the PSA and look forward to building yet further on that over the next year ahead of the 2015 World Squash Championships."

The 2014 World Squash Championships are set to take place in Qatar from November 14 to 21, the fourth time the Middle Eastern nation has hosted the pinnacle event in squash, where England's double Commonwealth Games gold medallist Nick Matthew will be trying to defend the title he won in Manchester in 2013.

Details for the Women's World Championships, organised by the Women's Squash Association (WSA), in 2014 and future years are set to be announced in the near future once the WSA has finalised agreements.
