Of the 233 ticketed sessions at the Games - including the Opening and Closing ceremonies - 62 have more than 500 tickets available, classing them as "high availability".

These cover nine sports: athletics, badminton, boxing, lawn bowls, powerlifting, rugby sevens, squash, table tennis and weightlifting.

Some of these sessions are finals, including in athletics and lawn bowls.

The Opening Ceremony of Glasgow 2014, in Celtic Park, also has a "high availability" of tickets.

The cheapest, with a restricted view, are available for £20 ($34/€25), with other tickets priced from £40 ($68/€50) to £250 ($425/€312).

Glasgow 2014 say "a number of additional tickets" have been made available from today across multiple sessions, including some which previously had no tickets still for sale.

"These additional tickets have been reallocated after final confirmation from tour groups, participating nations and territories, sponsors and hospitality clients," a spokesman said.

Some restricted seats for the Opening Ceremony have also been put on sale from today.

Unsold sports sessions can be bought for as little as £15 ($25/€18) in many instances.

Forty-nine sessions have "medium availability" according to the Glasgow 2014 ticketing website, while 69 have "low availability" and 53 are tagged as "currently unavailable".

Organisers have refused to give out exact details on how many tickets are left to sell, but it is at least 31,000.

Around 100,000 tickets were put on sale last month, with the ticketing website having to be closed after countless problems.

When it reopened a week later, organisers said there were around 50,000 tickets remaining.

More than one million tickets have already been sold for the Games.

Glasgow 2014 said last month "tickets are selling fast", telling sports fans: "So don't leave it too late to buy, especially if you have specific events or days you want to be part of."

Organisers have also stressed it has committed to a minimum of 70 per cent of all tickets being sold to the public for every session at the Games.

Tickets for shooting, judo, cycling and gymnastics are not available.

There is "medium availability" for the Closing Ceremony on August 3 at Hampden Park, with the cheapest tickets at £80 ($136/€100).

Athletics fans can still get tickets to watch the final of the women's 400 metres and women's 10,000m, which are both on the night of July 29, with there being a "high availability".

That means tickets can be bought for between £30 ($51/€37) and £60 ($102/€75).

The Games, due to begin on July 23, are the third to be held in Scotland, after Edinburgh 1970 and Edinburgh 1986.
