American confectionery firm Mondelēz is a commercial partner of the BPA and more than 30 of its employees took part in the nine-day trek from Land's End in Cornwall to John O' Groats in Scotland.

Ten of the riders completed the entire course while the rest of the participants joined in on daily stages.

The funds raised will go towards the British team's preparations for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

"We're extremely grateful for all of the support we have received from the staff at Mondelēz International," said BPA director of marketing and communications Jane Jones.

"Their efforts will go a long way in supporting the association and we look forward to working with them in the future."

Mondelēz also showed its support to the team with funding from its cash match initiative which supports local and national charities.

Speaking about the initiative, business development and engineering manager for Mondelēz International, Andrew Bowles, said: "The ride was definitely one of the toughest challenges I have ever taken part in but to raise so much for the association definitely made it worthwhile.

"The British Paralympic Association continues to play a part in taking the legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and sharing it with the nation and Mondelēz International is proud to be able to continue their support of the British Paralympic Association through to the 2016 Rio Games."

Mondelēz produces some of the best-known snacks across the globe, including Oreo, Belvita, Milka and Toblerone, and its deal with the BPA runs through until March 2017.

Its Cadbury brand was also a sponsor of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
