The announcement comes after two years of discussions between Volleyball Australia and Manly Council.

The venue was dropped following the 2011-2012 season due to contractual difficulties between the two parties.

These problems have now been resolved, however.

Olympic gold medallist Kerri Pottharst, who earlier this month was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, had been leading the push to have volleyball return to Manly.

She expressed her delight at the news.

"It's been a fantastic team effort by everyone involved to get Manly back on the national tour," Pottharst said.

"Not only will people get the chance to see Australia's best beach volleyballers in action, but they'll also see the best players from throughout Oceania - all on beautiful Manly Beach."

Volleyball Australia revealed Manly Beach will become a Tour event for the next three years after setting the calendar for the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour for this period.

It also announced that "a player prize pool of a minimum of $10,000 (£16,000/€8,000) for each Grand Slam ($5,000 (£3,000/€4,00o) per gender) and has committed to funding a bonus pool of not less than an additional $10,000 (£16,000/€8,000) for the opening event at Manly Beach".

The statement added: "This brings the total prize pool for the Manly event (across both genders) to $20,000 (£12,5000/€16,000) returning the sport to its record levels of prize money."

As well as hosting the opening round of the Australian Beach Volleyball Tour, it will also be the venue for the Oceania Championships and the Oceania Continental Cup Olympic qualifiers.

The 10-day beach volleyball extravaganza is due to begin on November 14 with the Oceania Championships, followed by the Continental Olympic qualifiers from November 17 and the first round of the Australian Grand Slam Tour from November 24.
