The search comes after news that current chair Kari Marklund will step down from the role on December 31.

Marklund came out of retirement in 2011 at the request of IBSA President Jannie Hammershoi, in an effort to help save IBSA Goalball following internal struggles with the former Committee.

In a statement released by the IBSA, the governing body for blind sport admitted that Markland "will be greatly missed" but "feels that it is now time that they start the process to fill this position".

It added: "Even though Kari's departure will leave some mighty shoes to be filled, we believe that there is a candidate who is willing and has the capability to take this challenge on."

The IBSA are now taking applicants to fill the role with those interested urged to apply before the November 17 deadline.

The IBSA Goalball chairman is a voluntary role.

The successful applicant is likely to work around 15 hours a week with oversees trip also expected on occasions.
