Vlade Divac, the President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, hit the "Big Shot Jackpot" to raise $90,000 for charity ©Getty Images Basketball legend Vlade Divac, President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia, has raised $90,000 (£58,000/€74,000) for charity after converting a half-court shot between the third and fourth quarter of Los Angeles Lakers' 115-105 home victory against Golden State Warriors at the Staples Center.

The former National Basketball Association (NBA) star hit the "Big Shot Jackpot" in front of a crowd including Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson.

The money will be split between the Divac Children's Foundation (DCF) and the Lakers' Youth Foundation.

The DCF "provides care for children who suffer from the isolation, poverty and displacement inherent to the break-up of a country".

The Lakers Youth Foundation's mission is "to help undeserved youth develop their potential by providing positive experiences and resources in education, health and wellness, and sports".

Divac played in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings from 1989 to 2005.

He is one of only six players in NBA history to record 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots, along with Americans Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett, and Nigerian-American Hakeem Olajuwon.

The Serbian, who has been President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia since 2009, was also the first player born and trained outside the United States to play in over 1,000 games in the NBA, leading to him being inducted into the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Hall of Fame in 2010.

He is also a possible future member of the International Olympic Committee, with Serbia not currently having a representative, while he is already a member of the Executive Council of the Association of National Olympic Committees.
