It is the second successive year the pair have won the prestigious accolade while Dukurs has received the award in four of the last five years.

Dukurs is the five-time defending skeleton World Cup champion and five-time European Championship gold medallist.

He won six of the eight World Cup stages throughout the 2013/2014 season, finishing in second in one of the two that he missed out on the top spot, and is already leading after two races of the 2014/2015 season.

The 30-year-old also finished runner-up at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Grigorjeva, on the other hand, won gold in the under 63 kilogram category at the 2014 European Wrestling Championships in Vantaa, Finland.

She also took bronze at the World Wrestling Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The fan votes for Most Popular Athletes of the Year went to rallycross star Reinis Nitišs who came third in his debut season in the prestigious Supercar category of the World Rallycross Championships, recording five podium finishes in the process.

Nitišs also secured the award for best technical sport athlete during the annual awards ceremony.

Latvia's men's national ice hockey team won Team of the Year at the awards after progressing to the quarter-final stages of Sochi 2014.

Coach of the Year went to Sandis Prusis after leading the Latvian four-man bobsleigh team to a silver medal at the Sochi Olympics, in what was the Baltic nation's first Olympic bobsleigh medal since the restoration of independence in 1991.
