Israel’s Vladislav Bykanov earned a dominant victory in the men’s 1500 metres competition at the International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup in Dordrecht.

The Ukrainian-born skater lapped his rivals in the final at the Dutch venue, winning comfortably in a time of 2min 17.630sec.

South Korea’s Kwak Yoon-Gy secured the silver medal with team-mate Lee Jung-Su completing the podium positions.

Kwak’s second place finish proved enough for him to seal the overall World Cup crown in the distance having moved onto a points tally of 45,920.

Dutch skater Sjinkie Knegt will finish runner-up on 43,677.

Park Se Yeong triumphed in the men’s 1,000m competition in a time of 1:27.231, leading home Hungary’s Shaolin Sandor Liu and South Korean team-mate Kim Joon Chun.

The result does not affect the overall World Cup standings as Russia’s Semen Elistratov remains the leader on 30,800 points.

In the women’s competition Britain’s Elise Christie defeated world champion Choi Min-jeong to earn victory for the second consecutive World Cup.

Christie completed the 1,000m in 1:30.616, edging ahead of her South Korean rival, who finished in 1:31.279.

Canada’s Jamie MacDonald clocked 1:31.460 to win the bronze medal.

Choi remains top of the overall World Cup standings on 36,000, despite suffering back-to-back defeats against Christie.

She has also been assured of the women’s 1,500m crown, despite opting not to compete in the distance in Dordrecht, with her tally of 48,000 already beyond her rvials.

Canada’s Marianne St-Gelais won the  final competition, clocking 2:27.618.

China’s Yihan Guo and The Netherlands’ Suzanne Schulting won the silver and bronze medals. 

The World Cup is due to draw to a close tomorrow with the 500m, 1,000m and relay races.
