The 23-year-old was awarded with her prize at an official ceremony in Bormio in Italy.

The prize, named after promising skier Baumgarten who tragically died in a car accident, recognises young athletes who are following the path of excellence in sports and education.

It is open to competitors in all of the International Ski Federation (FIS) disciplines.

Pozun, who finished 23rd in the women's FIS Ski Jumping World Cup this season, juggles her time on the international circuit with a bachelor degree in security and policing.

She is also a member of the FIS Athletes' Commission.

"I am very honoured to be the 20th recipient of the Matteo Baumgarten Award and would like to thank the Baumgarten family for having chosen me," she said.

"We all strive to be the best and to fulfill ourselves not only as athletes but also as students.

"Receiving this award was a conformation that I’m doing something right and that the hard work is paying off.

"I want to be an inspiration for younger athletes that we can always find time to study besides doing sport and we have to plan early for our careers after sport.

"I met many inspiring people at the official ceremony in Bormio and realised that knowledge is appreciated all around the world."
