World Championship bronze medal-winning swimmer Ellen Keane features in the third instalment of Paralympics Ireland’s "More Than Sport" campaign, which has been launched today.

The latest in a series of videos, which can be viewed below, is said to provide another powerful glimpse behind the scenes into life as an elite Irish athlete, including their training, dedication and the highs and lows of life on the international stage.

Keane was third in the SM9 200 metres individual medley at last year’s International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Swimming World Championships in Glasgow and will be looking to perform well at Rio 2016 after appearing at both Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

"I’m hoping now to compete at my third Paralympic Games this year," said the 21-year-old from Dublin.

"It’s a bit surreal to be honest.

"I just hope that if it works out, I can be a help to all those on their first journey and apply all I have learned from my past experiences."

The first video in the More Than Sport campaign, accessible here, was released at the end of February.

It was followed by a second instalment, accessible here, featuring middle-distance runner Michael McKillop, a three-time Paralympic gold medallist and four-time IPC Athletics World Championships gold medallist.

Speaking about the launch of the campaign last month, Paralympics Ireland chief executive Liam Harbison said: "More Than Sport is a new awareness and fundraising initiative we’ve launched this year as we prepare for the Rio 2016 Games.

"Over the coming weeks and months we will be bringing you more, as we take you behind the scenes to meet these athletes, hear their stories and come behind them to support them all the way to Rio.

"It’s an extremely exciting and inspirational campaign."

The More Than Sport campaign has also seen the launch of a text drive which asks the public to text PARA to 50300.

Text costs €4 (£3.10/$4.50) with Paralympics Ireland receiving a minimum of €3.25 (£2.50/$3.70).
