Swiss Alpine-snowboarder Yvonne Schuetz has announced her retirement following her omission from the national A-squad for next season.

The 25-year-old has competed in 38 World Cup races, with a best finish of 12th in the leg in Carezza in 2012.

She has been part of the Swiss Snowboard team since 2008 and competed in both the parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom events at the 2013 World Championships in Stoneham, Canada.

She finished 21st in both events.

But in recent years, Schuetz has been more confined to the lower level Europa Cup circuit, finishing third overall in 2015.

She will not be considered for the Swiss A-squad for next season, she has been told, meaning she will no longer have the resources to continue competing.

“I don't have the nerves and financial back-up to add another season," Schuetz admitted in a statement posted on the International Ski Federation website.

Schuetz finished 24th in the parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom World Cup standings for 2016, with the former list headed by team-mate Patrizia Kummer.

Switzerland's Ladina Jenny lies in fourth place in both lists.
