The 24-year-old is one of three swimmers who have booked their place at a fourth Paralympic Games in Rio 2016, with Rudy Garcia-Tolson and Cody Bureau having also made their debuts back at Athens 2004.

Long secured victories in the S8 400 freestyle and 100m butterfly events at the trials, with the 14-time world record holder now setting her sights on adding to her 12 titles in Rio, having secured five golds back at London 2012.

After setting a world record in the women’s 50m freestyle at the trials, Michelle Konkoly has been named in the squad and will make her first ever appearance at the Paralympic Games.

Cortney Jordan, Noga Nir-Kistler, Tucker Dupree and Roy Perkins will all be competing for the third time in their careers.

Second time participants will include Brickelle Bro, McKenzie Coan, Alyssa Gialamas, Letticia Martinez, Rebecca Meyers, Mallory Weggemann, Colleen Young, Evan Austin, Dalton Herendeen and Brad Snyder.

Snyder will be looking to replicate his performance from London 2012, with retired Navy veteran having won men’s S11 100m and 400m gold at the Games.

Hannah Aspden, Haley Beranbaum, Reilly Boyt, Cailin Currie, McClain Hermes, Sophia Herzog, Cortney Jordan, Elizabeth Marks, Martha Ruether, Natalie Sims and Elizabeth will all make their debuts after being named in the women’s team.

The men’s team will see three debutants, with Tharon Drake, Tye Dutcher and Robert Griswold all having been named.

The American team will looking to build upon their medal haul from London 2012, when they secured 14 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze medals.
