The 2016 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Running Target World Championship is due to begin in Suhl tomorrow as competitors battle for honours across 12 disciplines.

Medals will be awarded in six junior and six senior events with action in the German city set to run until next Friday (July 22).

Juniors and seniors will be contesting the same half-dozen events - men’s 50 metres, mixed men’s 50m, men’s 10m, mixed men’s 10m, women’s 10m and mixed women’s 10m.

The last ISSF Running Target World Championship was held in Spanish city Granada in 2014, as part of the 51st ISSF World Championship for all shooting events.

The previous separate ISSF Running Target World Championship took place in Sweden’s capital Stockholm in 2012.

An Opening Ceremony was held in Suhl tonight. 

Action starts with the men’s 50m and men’s junior 50m slow runs both taking place tomorrow.

The fast runs are scheduled for Sunday (July 17) and will be immediately followed by the victory ceremony.
