The Grandmaster was voted back in for another term during elections at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) at the Avondale College Gymnasium in Auckland.

Senior vice president Han Hyoun Lee, another grandmaster, was also re-elected.

Peter Shaw and Dafydd Sanders will serve as vice presidents, with Matt Ransom as secretary general and Abraham Janssen as treasurer.

Kesi O’Neill, Mark Tester, Darryl June and Gina Xiaoying Guo were also appointed as Board members.

Rene Leveaux, a Board member of the Oceania Taekwondo Union (OTU), attended the elections as an observer on behalf of the OTU.

The elections had earlier been delayed after an Annual General Meeting (AGM) failed to fulfil constitutional requirements.

Voting members at the EGM also passed a resolution to endorse a Restructure Working Group (RWG) which will continue to work on reviewing a proposed new constitution.

The aim is to present a final draft to the TNZ Board for consideration at their 2017 AGM.

New Zealand sent one competitor to the Olympic taekwondo tournament at Rio 2016 in August.

Andrea Kilday competed in the women's under-49 kilograms category, but lost to home Brazilian athlete Iris Sing in the first round. 

Kilday qualified for the Olympics by winning gold at the Oceania Taekwondo Championships.
