Nelly Moenne Loccoz and Chloe Trespeuch guided France to a thrilling victory in the women’s competition as team events brought the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Cross World Cup in Montafon in Austria to a close today.

Loccoz, the 2015 World Cup winner in the discipline, and Trespeuch saw off the challenge of Italy's Raffaella Brutto and Michela Moioli in the final.

The bronze medal went the way of Manon Petit and Charlotte Bankes, also of France, to complete a successful outing for the nation.

The result gave redemption to Loccoz, who narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the individual event on Friday (December 16) as she finished fourth.

“I'm really happy to win the team event,” she said.

“I was really disappointed after I finished fourth here two days ago.

“It's good to be back on the podium.

“We won here last year, and now we did it again.

“I guess nobody can catch us when racing together.

“Seriously, I like the team event - you are more relaxed, and he pressure is on two not on you all alone.”

In the men’s event, Spanish snowboarders Regino Hernandez and Lucas Eguibar delivered success for their nation as they emerged victorious from a nail-biting final.

Their performance in the gold medal race relegated former overall champion Omar Visintin and Emanuel Perathoner of Italy into second place.

The lead had constantly changed hands during the big final before the Spaniards eventually found an extra gear, with Alex Deibold and Nick Baumgartner of the United States taking home bronze.

“I'm super happy,” Eguibar said.

“We have been working a lot during summer.

“On Friday, I was very unlucky crashing out in the eight finals - so today was the day for me.”

The FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup series continues in Solitude in the US from January 19 to 22.
