Paul Coll has become the first player from New Zealand to appear in the top 20 places of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Men’s World Rankings since 1995.

Following his victory in the PSA M100 Channel VAS Championship in Weybridge last month, Coll has moved up 13 places to 20th in the table, which was published today.

The 24-year-old had to battle through qualification to claim the title in Britain and is the first man from New Zealand since Ross Norman to break the top 20.

There was no change to the top seven spots in the rankings with Egypt’s Mohamed El Shorbagy topping the list.

In the latest women’s rankings, Tesni Evans became only the second Welsh player to break into the top 20.

After reaching the semi-finals of the Wadi Degla Women’s Open in Cairo in November, Evans now occupies 20th place in the PSA table.

The only other player from Wales to make the top 20 was Tegwen Malik.

Nour El Sherbini remains in the top spot while her fellow Egyptian’s Nouran Gohar and Raneem El Weljly sit in second and third place respectively, with the former leapfrogging her compatriot.
