The International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Big Air World Cup season is set to resume in Moscow this weekend following a three week break.

The Russian capital will play host to a Big Air event for the first time in more than seven years, with action set to take place at the Krylatskoye Sports Centre on Saturday (January 7).

It is the fifth time since 2005 a Big Air World Cup will take place in the Russian capital.

Max Parrot led a Canadian one-two in the last event at Copper Mountain in the United States.

The 22-year-old finished with a score of 188.75 points, putting him in front of team-mate Sebatien Toutant, who scored 176.00.

Parrot's win also saw him jump ahead in the overall Big Air World Cup rankings, putting him in first on 1,800 points.

Stassel also moved up the table into second on 1,720 points, ahead of Canada’s Mark McMorris, who had been leading the standings before this weekend.

In the women’s competition, there was home delight for Jamie Anderson as the Sochi 2014 slopestyle gold medallist topped the podium.

Anderson’s success moved her into third place in the overall standings on 1,450 points.

Austria’s Anna Gasser, who did not compete in Colorado due to a knee injury, remains on top of the rankings with 3,000 points, while Great Britain's Katie Ormerod sits second on 2,110.

Men's and women's qualification rounds are scheduled to take place tomorrow morning with the finals later in the day.

January 7, the date of the competition, is also the date of Orthodox Christmas Day, an event widely celebrated in Russia and other former Soviet states.
