Rosina Mancari won International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard Cross World Cup gold on her 22nd birthday as the American triumphed in the team event on home snow with partner Lindsey Jacobellis.

Four-time world champion Jacobellis took to the course first in the final at Solitude, building up a big lead to hand over to Mancari.

The birthday girl was able to steer her country home at the Utah venue to ensure the perfect present.

"I can't really put it in words what it means to me," she said.

"My mum is here watching the first race ever.

"It's just amazing."

The American victory at the second team event of the season meant the French pairing of Nelly Moenne Loccoz and Chloé Trespeuch were denied consecutive World Cup wins.

They had to settle for silver after their opening leg success in Montafon in Austria last month.

Italians Michela Moioli and Raffaella Brutto, who were second in Montafon, clinched bronze today.

In the men's event there was gold for Italy thanks to the efforts of Luca Matteotti and Emanuel Perathoner.

Austria's Julian Lueftner and Lukas Pachner finished second as the US claimed home bronze courtesy of Nate Holland and Alex Deibold.

In the individual races in Solitude, defending world champion Matteotti and Perathoner finished in 35th and 42nd positions respectively so the team victory put aside that disappointment.

"We tried to do better than yesterday and tried to win," said Perathoner.

"Basically I had no pressure.

"I did very bad yesterday, and I just wanted to do it better today."

One more team event will be held this season, in Veysonnaz in Switzerland on March 26.
