A conference on how to integrate scientific methods into sambo and other martial arts is due to be held in Moscow on February 16.

The All-Russian scientific-practical conference will focus upon the "integration of science and sports practice in the martial arts".

According to a message posted on the website of the International Sambo Federation (FIAS), it will be dedicated to the memory of Soviet-era sambo instructor, Yevgeny Mikhailovich Chumakov.

"The conference discusses the results of studies on various aspects of the theory and practice of martial arts," FIAS added.

"The competition part of the conference presentations are the young scientists who do not have a scientific degree: graduate students, masters, competitors, university students."

Anybody is able to attend and apply to speak at the event, it was added.

Top speakers will be awarded with "valuable prizes and diplomas".
