Sarah-Jane Perry’s run to the final of the British Open final has earned her a spot at the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Dubai World Series Final for the first time.

The player from England was beaten in the women’s singles final by compatriot Laura Massaro in Hull on Sunday (March 26).

It was the first PSA World Tour final that Perry had reached in her career and this has led to her achieving a place at the season-ending tournament, due to take place between June 6 and 10 at the Dubai Opera House.

The British Open was the last event before the qualification window of the tournament in the United Arab Emirates, which only has the top eight players participate, closed.

Perry sneaked into seventh spot in the women’s rankings and said she delighted to earn her first trip to Dubai.

“I’ve never been to Dubai before and never played at the World Series Finals, so I’m very excited to experience it all,” the 26-year-old said.

“At the start of the season, my aims were to make the top eight in the world rankings and I’ve managed to achieve that, so to qualify for Dubai is a huge bonus.

“There will be no pressure on me, I’ll just go out there and enjoy the experience and try to play some good squash.

“It will be a fantastic way to end the season.”

The top qualifying spot in the women’s competition has gone to France’s Camille Serme, who finished ahead of Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini.

Massaro will go to Dubai as the third ranked player.

Also heading to the tournament will be Egyptian duo Raneem El Weilly and Nouran Gohar, Malaysia’s Nicol David and Amanda Sobhy of the United States.

The final eight for the men’s event will be confirmed after the El Gouna International Open in Egypt between April 7 and 14.
