It came on a mixed day for the host nation at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

Abdul Hadi won with a score of 13.450 points to beat The Philippines' Kaitlin Cera Lianne De La Cruz, with 13.025.

Indonesia's Rifda Irfanaluthfi scored exactly 13.000 for bronze.

But there was heartbreak for the hosts in the beam event as initial winner Tan Ing Yueh dropped from first to second after a successful protest against the initial score given to eventual winner Irfanaluthfi. 

Irfanaluthfi was upgraded to a score of 13.125 to win by a slender margin of 0.025.

De La Cruz took bronze with 12.300.

Vietnam's Nguyen Thi That won the women's 101 kilometres mass start cycling race in Nilai Square.

It followed criterium gold earlier in the regional event.

The 24-year-old beat Malaysia's Jupha Somnet in a sprint finish after both riders crossed in a time of 3 hours 14min 16sec. 

Indonesian Ayustina Delia Priatna took bronze in the same time.

"It was a tough race and the route was very challenging," said the winner, who is also the Vietnamese national champion.

"I managed to maintain my pace until the finishing line. 

"My confidence level to win was high after winning the criterium event.

"My wish is to go for gold medal and I did it."

Action in the Malaysian capital is due to continue tomorrow.
