Iranian Paralympic champion Sareh Javanmardi recovered from defeat yesterday to climb atop the podium on the fifth and final day of the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Osijek, Croatia.

Javanmardi won the P4 mixed 50 metres pistol SH1 title today, one of two competitions she took gold in at Rio 2016.

She also won the P2 women’s 10m air pistol SH1 in the Brazilian city, but was beaten by Turkey's Aysegul Pehlivanlar in that competition yesterday.

However, as she continues to make her season debut, the Iranian distanced herself from Serbia’s Zivko Papaz as the elimination stage went on before comfortably winning gold with a score of 228.2 points today.

Papaz took second on 219.7 while compatriot Rastko Jokic completed the podium on 199.7.

Multi-Paralympic champion Veronika Vadovicova completed a stunning final round win in the R6 mixed 50m rifle prone SH1.

The Slovakian trailed Great Britain’s Matt Skelhon throughout much of the elimination stage, entering the final round down by 1.2 points.

But Vadovicova produced a remarkable recovery to shoot 10.2 and 10.4 for a winning score of 248.4, which sealed her second victory in Osijek.

Skelhon took silver on 248.0, finishing in front of France’s Cedric Fevre, who claimed bronze on 225.2.

The World Cup series will now conclude in Bangkok between November 8 and 11.

Athletes will be able to earn qualification places for the 2018 World Championships in Cheongju in South Korea.
