Lewis proved too quick for the rest of the field as he clocked a time of 1 hour 11min 50sec in the event, held in a run-bike-run format after the swimming leg was cancelled due to green algae in the water, a result of Hurricane Irma. 

The 34-year-old Briton finished in front of the American trio of Allan Armstrong, Adam Popp and Maikol Monsalve, who were second, third and fourth respectively.

The success for Lewis ensured he capped off a superb season in style.

Yukako Hata of Japan won the women's PTS2, denying American Melissa Stockwell victory in her first competitive outing since winning bronze at last year's Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Hata crossed the line in 1:33.45, nearly 13 minutes quicker than Stockwell.

Sixteen-year-old Ahalya Lettenberger of the United States continued her impressive start to her Paratriathlon career as she beat Mexican Osnaya Alvarez in a head-to-head battle in the women's PTWC.

The two were the only competitors but they produced a thrilling race, with Lettenberger taking the title after completing the course in 1:19:15.

Germany's Benjamin Lenatz was a surprise victor in the men's PTWC as he clocked 58min 19sec to comfortably beat Australian Alex Walsh and Pier Alberto Buccoliero of Italy, silver and bronze medallists respectively.

Amy Dixon continued the success for the American team as she saw off compatriot Ashley Eisenmenger with a time of 1:20:44 in the women's PTVI.

Four athletes entered the men's PTVI event, with Frenchman Charles Eduoard Catherine reigning supreme in 1:11.00.

Colombia's David Rangel came through to take second and Brandon Adame of the United States was third.
