The final day of the Team USA short track trials at the Olympic Oval in Utah saw three more skaters qualify for next year's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Jessica Kooreman, Thomas Hong and Ryan Pivirotto complete the team line-up for next year's Games in South Korea following good performances in Salt Lake City.

Kooreman took the third and final women's spot on the team in front of Katherine Reutter-Adamek and Kristen Santos, after finishing third in the women's 1,000 metre A final.

The 2014 Olympian almost missed out on her place on the team after falling on the penultimate lap.

However, the 34-year-old was able to recover quickly to cross the line in third, clinching her spot on the team.

After the race, Kooreman said: "Nothing like leaving it to the very end and the very last race, then falling at the very end and getting taken out.

"I looked up and saw my coach LinLin Sun yelling at me to get to the line and all I knew is that I didn't care.

"I was going to get up, get to the line and know that I crossed third no matter what.

"I went to battle this whole entire competition and I fought through everything that came my way, every challenge.

"This definitely challenged me going into the end of my career.

"I didn't know if it was going to be over today or if it was going to be over after Korea.

"I'm glad that I fought mentally and stayed strong and now I get to finish my career where I wanted to."

Lana Gehring and Maame Biney had already qualified for the American women's team.

Hong and Pivirotto took the final two spots on the men's team after finishing fourth and fifth respectively in the men's 1,000m.

With John-Henry Krueger and J.R. Celski, who finished first and second, having already qualified for next year's Games, Hong and Pivirotto did enough to book their spot on the team.

After the race, Pivirotto said: "It's amazing.

"My dreams and goals ever since I started skating have come true.

"I'm so proud to be part of Team USA and to be in Pyeongchang for the Olympics."

Hong added: "I'm tremendously excited.

"I'm extremely familiar with Korean culture having lived there for parts of my life and I'm excited to go back."

Team USA head coach Anthony Barthell said he has high hopes for Pyeongchang.

"We have a great team," he said.

"This is probably the most stressful competition I have ever been a part of, even when I was a competitor, but the team we are going with is an extremely strong team.

"John-Henry has been a talent ready to be unleashed, and he did it this weekend."
