The slopestyle events at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup event in Laax and the FIS snowboard cross competition in Erzurum have had to be cancelled due to bad weather.

After several inspections throughout the day, FIS opted to cancel the men’s and women’s slopestyle events in the Swiss municipality of Laax after heavy snowfall.

This is the third time the organisation has been forced to cancel an event in Laax this week after bad weather forced events on Tuesday (January 16) and Wednesday (January 17) to be abandoned.

The Laax Open has become one of the premier events of the snowboard slopestyle and halfpipe calendar in recent years.

The snowboard cross qualifying event in the Turkish ski resort of Erzurum also suffered the same fate as Laax, meaning Turkey will have to wait to host its first-ever FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup competition.

FIS have confirmed that tomorrow's snowboard cross action has been moved ahead by two hours to 10:30am CET.
