The Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation (THF) has announced that a new sports facility is under construction at the Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan.

The building will be primarily dedicated to taekwondo and will allow the THF to work with more people at the camp.

"We are excited to announce that the construction of a new sport facility in Azraq refugee camp has begun," a THF statement said.

"It will therefore bring taekwondo's benefits to even more children living in the camp."

Most people living in Azraq have fled the conflict in neighbouring Syria.

The THF has built an Academy at the site where it teaches the sport to youngsters.

World Taekwondo President Chungwon Choue officially announced his plan to establish the THF in his speech at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, on the 2015 International Day of Peace.

Its mission is to teach taekwondo and stage educational programmes with refugees and displaced people around the world.

As well as Jordan, projects are underway in countries such as Rwanda, Turkey, Djibouti and Nepal.
