Switzerland's dominant form ended at the International Ski Federation Ski Cross World Cup in Russia today as Canada's Kevin Drury and Sweden's Sandra Naesland each enjoyed victories.

It represented partial redemption for the winning duo after they both finished outside the podium positions at last month's Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang.

Drury crossed first in the men's race to beat Joas Lenherr, the Swiss star who won yesterday's event on the same Sunny Valley course.

Filip Flisar of Slovenia finished in third place.

Drury, who had never won a World Cup event before, now lies third in the World Cup standings on 398 points.

Switzerland's Marc Bischofberger still leads on 462 points, despite a disappointing 26th place today.

Jean-Frederic Chapuis of France lies second, on 403 points but missed a chance to close the gap today as he only managed 17th place.

Naeslund, who had already wrapped up the overall women's World Cup crown before this event, had ended outside of the podium in fourth place yesterday, so was desperate for an upturn in fortunes.

She duly delivered to win the women's race and consign Canada's Brittany Phelan to yet another silver medal.

"It feels really good to be back on the top of the podium today," Naeslund said.

"It was really fun racing today, really tight heats, and to come out on top is great.

"I had a little bit of a better start today and it’s easier for me to run my race from the front.

"Yesterday I had some stupid tactics and today I was better…with a little bit of luck, also."

Phelan finished second yesterday after also winning an Olympic silver medal in Pyeongchang.

Switzerland's Olympic bronze medallist Fanny Smith had to settle for third once again today after her victory yesterday.
