World Archery has opened the bidding process for its new Indoor World Series, which will debut in 2018-2019.

The governing body has opted to expand its indoor circuit following the launch of the Indoor Archery World Cup in 2010.

It claims the Indoor World Series will "update and expand" the current World Cup tour.

A key difference will see three levels of event take place - 1,000, 500 and 250.

The different levels will all have separate requirements, while elite, team and participation ranking lists will be created.

All events will be encouraged to develop "strong identities", similar to The Vegas Shoot and Nimes Indoor Tournament which are currently on the calendar.

Las Vegas, which will host a stage and the Final, is already confirmed for the first season alongside Nimes and Cancun.

It is expected that the tour will grow from its current four events to between six and eight stages during the opening campaign.

Interested organisers have a deadline of May 15 with events encouraged to improve year-on-year.

"The indoor circuit is appealing because it is open entry, tournaments are of a manageable length and the competition is accessible to a wide range of archers," said World Archery secretary general Tom Dielen.

"We're hoping to build on the popularity of the Indoor Archery World Cup with the new Indoor World Series by emphasising the aspects of the format - both as a world-class competition and a mass-participation event – that make it such a success."
