Hosts Japan won the United World Wrestling Women's World Cup for the fourth time in a row as they beat China 6-4 in the final in Takasaki.

Anyana Gempei secured the crucial victory for her nation at the Takasaki Arena, coming from behind to get the better of Tang Chuying at 65 kilograms.

It means Japan have now won the title 10 times as they continue to dominate women's freestyle wrestling.

Gempei was 3-2 behind but scored a takedown and roll in the final 12 seconds to win 6-3.

"I was losing, but I thought I could definitely get something somewhere," she said.

"I believed in what I brought.

"I went for it with confidence."

Japan had earlier got off to the perfect start when Yuki Irie overwhelmed China's Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Sun Yanan at 48kg.

She roared into a 10-0 lead and sealed it with a fall with 46 seconds left.

There was more Japanese success at 53kg as world champion Haruna Okuno defeated Ouyang Junling by fall.

World Championship silver medallist Mayu Mukaida then ensured another home win with a 10-0 technical fall win over Xie Mengyu at 55kg.

China got on the board when Asian champion Rong Ningning beat Katsuki Sakagami 15-4 at 57kg, making it 3-1.

The Chinese could not back up that victory, however, as Yukako Kawai defeated Pei Xingru 3-1 at 59kg to restore Japanese daylight.

It was then 5-1 as Olympic and world champion Risako Kawai, Yukako's sister, matched her billing by beating Asian silver medallist Luo Xiaojuan 5-1 at 60kg.

That put Japan one away from victory in the best-of-ten affair and Gempei made no mistake.

It meant China's resultant victories, all from Asian champions, were mere consolations.

Zhou Feng thrashed Miwa Morikawa 9-0 at 68kg before Yue Han saw off Masako Furuichi 10-7 at 72kg.

Zhou Qian then won at 76kg against Hiroe Suzuki, 7-1, as Japan's margin of victory was cut.

In the bronze medal clash, Mongolia clinched third place for the third year in a row.

They beat the United States 6-4.
