China's Xiaoyan Yin will seek a third successive gold medal at the Karate1-Premier League event that starts in Rabat tomorrow.

The 24-year-old Asian champion has been in outstanding form so far this season, winning in Paris and Dubai.

She was absent from the Rotterdam tournament but is back for the fourth leg of the World Karate Federation's flagship circuit and will be the clear favourite in the women's under-61 kilograms kumite division.

Yin will be one of a host of world class athletes taking part in the event that runs until Sunday (April 8) in the Moroccan capital's Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Hall.

Seventy-two nations will be represented with nearly 600 athletes taking part at the event.

After ruling the Premier League in Dubai, Turkey's Serap Ozcelik - a bronze medallist in Rotterdam - hopes to extend her domination of the women's under-50kg kumite.

Ukraine's Anzhelika Terliuga will also be among the grand winners on site in Rabat, and the European Championships bronze medallist is hoping to reach the top of the podium in the under-55kg women's kumite for the first time this season.

Her compatriot Stanislav Horunathe European Championships runner-up and World Games champion in men's kumite under-75kg, has earned three medals in four international appearances so far this season.

After finishing third in Dubai and Paris and winning at the Karate 1-Series A in Guadalajara, the 29-year-old missed the final day of competition in Rotterdam, so will be hoping to return to form in Rabat.

The fourth stop of the season will also feature Azerbaijan's five-times world champion Rafael Aghayev as he seeks to improve upon his bronze medal in the under-75kg kumite category in Rotterdam.

Karate star Alexandra Recchia of France will hope to recover from her early elimination at the last event in the Dutch city.

World champions Giana Lotfy of Egypt, Alisa Buchinger of Austria and Emilie Thouy of France, and karate stars Douglas Brose of Brazil and Thomas Scott of the United States will also be in the mix of top karatekas.
