Host nation Germany have selected their women's squad for this year's Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Hamburg.

Martin Otto have named 11 players, although one more will be added to the ranks following a training camp in May.

Veterans Annabel Breuer, Johanna Welin, Laura Fürst, Maya Lindholm, Mareike Miller and Marina Mohnen are among the selections alongside rookies Lisa Nothelfer and Svenja Mayer.

Anne Patzwald, Catharina White and Barbara Gross have also been picked.

"I think we have put together a good mix of experienced athletes and young junior players," said Otto, who put the squad through their paces with his co-trainer Janet McLachlan.

"All in all, I am very satisfied with the last few days and I am excited about the spirit that already dominates the team."

Germany finished as runners-up at the last World Championships in Toronto, where they lost in the final to hosts Canada.

They also came second at the 2010 edition behind the United States in English city Birmingham.

At the Paralympics, Germany won gold at London 2012 and then silver after defeat to the US at Rio 2016.

They had won eight out of the last nine European titles before relinquishing their crown to The Netherlands in Tenerife last year.

In Hamburg, Germany will play in Pool B.

They have been grouped with the US, Algeria, France, Argentina and China.

Matches will take place at the edel-optics.de Arena from August 16 to 26.
